Why it matters
Shopping ads and Performance Max product ads are built from Merchant Center data: titles, prices, images, availability. A product that is not approved there cannot be advertised at all.
Product issues are listed in Merchant Center, not in Google Ads, which is why limited or disapproved products are often missed.
Where to find it in Google Ads
- Open Merchant Center and go to Products.
- Look at Needs attention for disapproved and limited products, with their issues.
- Check the link with Google Ads under Settings, then Access and services, then Apps and services.
- Review the feed's update schedule so prices and stock stay current.
An example
A shop finds 300 products marked limited in Merchant Center because the colour attribute is missing. Adding colour to the feed lets them show in all the places they were held out of.
Common mistakes
- Never opening Merchant Center after the first setup.
- Letting prices in the feed differ from the website.
- Ignoring warnings because the products still show somewhere.
Checks that look at it
