How it works

A monthly goal helps only if you know, on any given day, whether you are on course. The calculator turns it into the pace the days left need, today's gap to an even pace, the month end at your pace so far, and the spend all that takes.

The formulas

Needed per day = (goal − so far) ÷ days left

Even pace to date = goal × days counted ÷ days in the month

Gap today = so far − even pace to date.

Month end at your pace = so far ÷ days counted × days in the month

Spend for the rest = (goal − so far) × cost per conversion

The days in the month come from the month you pick: February counts 28 days, or 29 in a leap year. A goal is behind when what you have is under 90% of the even pace to date. That is the line Optizads uses for its own goals, and it leaves room for one slow Monday. To work out your cost per conversion first, use the CPA calculator.

A worked example

Larkfield Physio, a made-up clinic, wants 300 booked appointments in September 2026. On the morning of the 14th, 13 days are counted and it has 108. An even pace would put it at 300 × 13 ÷ 30 = 130. It is 22 behind, and 108 is under 90% of 130, which is 117.

Its pace so far is 108 ÷ 13 = 8.3 a day, which ends the month near 249. To reach 300, the 17 days left need (300 − 108) ÷ 17 = 11.3 a day, 36% more than so far. At €42 per conversion, the 192 still needed cost about €8,064, or €474 a day.

That last figure is the one to act on. At €42 each, its 108 conversions cost about €349 a day so far. If the campaigns are not held back by budget, more budget alone will not find 36% more bookings at the same cost. The gap then needs a better conversion rate, new searches, or a lower goal for this month.

Calls, leads or conversions

Pick what you count and the labels follow. The arithmetic is the same. For calls, decide first which calls count. Google Ads records a call as a conversion only past a minimum length, 60 seconds by default, so calls from your ads and call conversions are two different numbers. Optizads asks the same question when you set a goal in calls: all calls from your ads, or only those counted as conversions.

From a calculator to a tracked goal

On a connected account, Optizads goals do this every day without the typing. The main goal is a count a month of the account's own result, named in its own words (calls, leads, bookings), plus a maximum cost per result. Oppy judges every budget raise against that cost. It is not a bidding target and does not change your bids.

The Overview's This month card shows each goal against an even pace to date, the month end expected from the forecast, and the pace still needed a day. To see where the month is heading rather than where it should be, try the forecast calculator.

How do I set a monthly conversion goal in Google Ads?

Google Ads has no field for a monthly number of conversions. Budgets are set per day, or as a total over a campaign's dates, and bid targets are per conversion. Set the monthly goal outside it, from what you can spend divided by what a conversion costs, then track the pace each day.

What if I am behind halfway through the month?

Check first whether the campaigns are limited by budget. If they are, more budget buys more conversions at about your current cost. If they are not, more budget mostly raises the cost per conversion, and the gap needs other fixes or a lower goal for this month.

Should I count today?

Count the days whose results are in. On the morning of the 14th, that is 13. Counting a day half gone makes the gap look worse than it is.

What cost per conversion should I use?

What a conversion costs you now, over the last 30 days, or your target if you bid to one. The spend figures are only as good as that number. Optizads uses the last 30 days' average until you set your own.

Why 90% of an even pace?

Conversions come in lumps, and a few slow days put any account under an even line. Below 90%, the gap is big enough to look at. It is the same line Optizads uses for its goals.
