Why it matters
A shared budget lets money flow to whichever campaign needs it that day, which suits campaigns that are interchangeable.
It also makes each campaign's budget limits unreadable: a campaign can show lost impression share to budget because its neighbour spent first.
Where to find it in Google Ads
- Open Tools, then Budgets and bidding, then Shared budgets.
- See each budget's amount and the campaigns that use it.
- Compare the campaigns' spend to see which takes most.
- Give a campaign its own budget in its settings if needed.
An example
Three campaigns share €100 a day. One of them takes €80 most days, and the other two show as limited by budget. Giving the big one its own budget makes each campaign's needs visible.
Common mistakes
- Sharing a budget between campaigns with very different goals.
- Reading impression share inside a shared budget as a fact about one campaign.
- Raising the shared budget when only one campaign deserves more.
