Why Google shows it
Where it shows: in the Status column of the keywords table.
- Prescription drug names or other restricted health terms.
- Words tied to dangerous products, counterfeit goods or other prohibited content.
- Terms covered by a restricted policy, such as gambling, used without certification.
- Words with adult or sensitive meaning in some contexts.
How to fix it
- Hover over the keyword status to see which policy applies.
- If the keyword does not describe what you sell, remove it.
- If it does, rewrite it with wording that the policy allows, or apply for the certification it needs.
- Appeal from the Policy manager only if you are sure the keyword was judged wrongly.
What happens next
Removing the keyword clears the status. A rewritten keyword is reviewed as a new one.
Broad match keywords can still reach related searches, so check search terms to make sure you are not showing for what the policy blocks.
How to stop it coming back
Read new keyword lists before uploading them, especially lists from tools or agencies, and remove anything your business does not sell.
Add the words of restricted products to a negative list, so broad match does not bring them back through close variants.
