The short answer
Open Reports and click New report, or open a template from the Template gallery and click Customize. Add cards from the Card library, drag and resize them on the grid, set the period and comparison, and save. A saved report is shared with the whole workspace and covers one Google Ads account.
Start a report
The Reports page has four tabs. All shows six everyday templates, your workspace's reports and Oppy's. Templates holds all 24, Custom your workspace's own, and Written by Oppy the scheduled weekly, monthly and quarterly ones, when there are any.
- From nothing. Click New report, then Blank report, and add cards one by one.
- From a template. Click Template gallery. Its 24 templates sit in six sections, from Regular reports to Shopping and Performance Max. Open one to see it with this account's figures.
- From an existing report. Click Customize on a template or on one of Oppy's reports, or Edit on your own.
Customizing a template never changes it. Your changes are saved as a new report the whole workspace can open. The report templates pages say what each template holds and which accounts it suits.
Add and arrange cards
Open the Card library
In edit mode, click Add a card. Search, or browse the groups: Performance, Campaigns, Searches, Ads, Audience, Oppy and Text. Each card says where its figures come from.
Add it
The card lands at the end of the report.
Move and resize
Drag a card to move it. Pull its edge or its corner to change its width: 3, 4, 6, 8 or 12 of the grid's 12 columns. Cards wrap to the next row and never overlap.
Name and save
Give the report a name, then save, or click Save as a new report. Undo and Redo work until you save.
A report holds up to 30 cards. Leave edit mode with unsaved changes and Optizads asks whether to leave without saving.
An example
Studio Kestrel, a made-up agency, builds a monthly report for Fernhollow Dental, an invented clinic, account 123-456-7890. It starts from the Monthly template and swaps conversion value for calls in the key figures. Then it adds a Landing pages table at full width, and ends with a Note on the month's new offer. Saved as 'Fernhollow, monthly', the report is there for everyone in the agency.
Set each card
Open a card's settings to change its title (80 characters at most) and what it shows. The choices depend on the card.
Settings by kind of card Card What you can set Key figures One to eight figures, each with its own look, comparison and goal line Performance chart One figure, with the days grouped automatically, by day, by week or by month Breakdown Spend, conversions, conversion value, clicks or impressions, split by campaign type or by campaign Google Ads tables Columns (at least one), sort order, the table's filters and 3 to 100 rows shown Note Your own words, up to 4,000 characters Google Analytics and Search Console metrics go only in Key figures and Performance chart. Your sheet and calculated metrics go in Key figures. A table card widens to fit the columns you tick.
Pick the period and comparison
The Period menu offers Last week (Monday to Sunday), Last month, Last quarter, This month, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, or Custom dates, both before today. Periods follow the account's own calendar and time zone, and count only finished days.
Under Compare with, pick The period before, Same days last year or No comparison. Whole months compare with the same number of months before. A part month compares with the same days of the month before. A report Oppy wrote covers its own fixed days.
Where each card's figures come from
Most performance cards read the figures Optizads stores each night, and the report says 'Google Ads figures read on' that day. Cards marked 'Google Ads, read live', and every table, read Google Ads when the report opens, so they show the latest figures.
Large tables show the rows that matter most, sorted the way you choose, up to 100 on screen. Shares and rates such as impression share match what Google Ads shows for the same days.
A card's rows download as CSV or Excel, except on five cards that have none to give: Budget pacing, Main goal, Impression share, Waiting on you and Note.
When a card can't load
Each card fails on its own, and the rest of the report still shows.
