Why Google shows it
Where it shows: in the Status column under Goals, then Conversions.
- The action was just created and nobody has converted yet.
- The tag or the event snippet was never added to the site.
- The tag sits on a page people do not reach, such as an old thank-you page.
- Consent settings block the tag for every visitor.
How to fix it
- Open the action and read the tag setup it expects.
- Check the site or Google Tag Manager for the Google tag and the matching event.
- Complete a test conversion with Tag Assistant open.
- Wait a few hours after a successful test for the status to change.
What happens next
Once the tag fires, the action shows No recent conversions, then Recording conversions when a conversion comes from an ad click.
An action that stays unverified for weeks is not measuring anything. Fix it before any bid strategy depends on it.
How to stop it coming back
Create a conversion action only once the tag or import that feeds it is ready, and test it the same day.
Name actions after what they count, such as 'Quote form sent', so an unverified one is easy to trace to its page.
Checks that catch it
Oppy runs these every week, so the status is found early.
- A goal Google is aiming at that has never been hit: A primary conversion action that has recorded nothing lately.
- A primary goal that forgets every click after a day: Primary conversion actions whose click window is one day or less, so a customer who comes back the next day is never counted.
