Why it matters
Video ads are often watched, not clicked. Engaged-view conversions give video credit when someone watched a meaningful part of the ad and converted later.
They sit between click conversions and view-through conversions in strength, and counting them changes how video campaigns compare with Search.
Where to find it in Google Ads
- Open Goals, then Conversions, and open a conversion action.
- Look at the engaged-view conversion window.
- Add the relevant conversion columns to video and Demand Gen campaigns.
- Compare results with and without engaged-view conversions.
An example
Someone watches 20 seconds of a skippable video ad for a mattress, does not click, and orders from the site two days later. With an engaged-view window of three days, the video campaign gets the conversion.
Common mistakes
- Adding engaged-view conversions to Search results as if they were clicks.
- Setting a very long engaged-view window that credits video for unrelated sales.
- Ignoring them and judging video on clicks alone.
